This week’s Firecracker is the cast and crew of Disney Channel’s newest show, “Andi Mack.” From the creator of “Lizzie McGuire” and the producer of classic hits like “Clueless,” “The Breakfast Club,” and “Titanic,” “Andi Mack” stars almost-thirteen-year-old Peyton Elizabeth Lee as the title character as she navigates life’s surprises with optimism and quirkiness.
I had the chance to sit down with the cast and creators of “Andi Mack,” and talk to them about the process of finding the right Asian American actors for the role, how the series was never written specifically to be an “Asian” show, and the importance of diversity in Hollywood.
